    Notes c.25% of the bottom of the pan covered with very shallow water. With extensive mudflats around this, I unfortunately could not approach most of the waders (which were running among the Egyptian Geese and SA Shelduck) closely enough to identify, even using a scope on a tripod; most of them were probably Ruffs, Curlew Sandpipers and Little Stints. The Purple Gallinule was obviously not well - there was no cover for it near the water and it was limping around in the open. A pair of Chestnut-banded Plover on the mudflats was accompanied by a small chick, c.1/4 adult size.
