    Notes Cool and overcast. Lots of water around the pan due to heavy thunderstorm the previous day. Johannesburg has had a lot of rain this year and has resulted in lots of standing water in the area and may account for the low bird count on the pan this year. It was difficult to count birds once they landed in the grass around the pan. We are certain that we have under-counted as a result. There is also a lot of development taking place around the Western and Northern side of the Pan.
