    Notes Hot air ballooning activity - launching and landing - within the immediate vicinity of the dam is believed to be the most likely cause for the poor count. Ballooning is deemed to become a regular activity and we will endeavour to monitor the situation to determine its impact on bird movement. Continued water hyacinth growth that has considerably increased on the opposite and to a lesser extent on the near-side shore, remains a cause of major concern as this negatively impacts on the devoid of wader and other shoreline feeders. It has been observed that the resident fish eagles are hampered by the hyacinth in their attempt to land fish that is too large to take in flight and they then swim their prey to shore.
