    Notes An icy wind blowing during count. Most of pan basin covered with water, forming extensive shallows, hence all the flamingos. Some quite recently used cormorant nests (c.30 cm across) at the old saltworks on the E side of the pan: 2 were on an old tank platform (c.3.5 m up) and there were at least another 10 on four small rocky "islands" formed from piles of rock dumped on the W side of the saltworks ponds.
