    Notes There had been a fire in September 2013. The grass recovered well and was very lush for the January 2014 count. There was a flood event in March 2014 and most of dead grass had been flattened making seeing and counting the birds much easier. There was a good variety of birds seen from where Stemmer's hide once stood. Weather conditions were very cold in the morning when we started, but warmed up considerably during the course of the day. 2 Black-chested Eagles and 2 African Fish Eagles were flushing birds over Vogelfontein and behind where Kingfisher hide stood. These numbers are not included in the count as they were too numerous and too far away to identify.
